Well as I sit here on the last day of the holiday weekend. I think back on all I am thankful for. I am thankful for family and friends for having a job that I like. I am thankful for my Mom and all she does for me. I am really thankful for my clean house that took me 2 days to clean and decorate but it was worth it it is now so clean for 2 days!.

Tomorrow I go back for a 5 day work week and to figure out what I am buying for Christmas and how much I can spend my goal this year is to not overspend. That is hard for me because I love giving presents!

I am posting a picture of Leslie and Tom that she emailed from the road when they were coming home from IN they had Thanksgiving at Tom's brother.

Dad's 95th

Here is a picture of my Mom and Dad I think when they were dating or just married.

Tomorrow is my Dad's 95th birthday. I cant believe he has been gone for 11 1/2 yrs. To me he was the best Dad ever. I have wonderful memories of him to last me a lifetime. The one holiday that I ever saw him in pj's and robe was Christmas usually he never left his room unless he was dressed but on Christmas morning he pass out presents in his pj's and robe. He loved Christmas he was always so happy when we opened presents and our reaction to them. The one I really remember is the year I got my stuffed frog (that i still have regardless of how he looks) he sent me to the pantry to get a sack to put the used wrapping in and I really did not want to go. But when I did I found Santa had left me a present there and had told Dad to send me there to get it.

The other memories I have are of him reading David and I bedtimes stories out the big Disney book we had. He had the best reading voice ever. That was some of the best times. Also of him and mom taking us to the beach for a week or so not realizing that he drove to work and back to the beach just so we could have a vacation. Our other vacations was driving to Utah. Those really are the only ones I remember having. Driving in the old station wagon and being the youngest meant I rode in the middle or the back at them time I thought it was awful but now it is just good memories. Of stopping for breakfast the the Pondoraso cant remember the town but we always stopped there on the way to Utah.

And all the Daddy Daughers things and every concert I have had he was always there in his good pants and the sweater that Lyn got him in Irleand. Again not knowing how tired he was but he was always there. Taking us to Disneyland every year on Mormon Night and staying til the park closed (Mom would make David and I take naps in the afternoon) at 12 am. I am sure that was not the highlight of his week but every year they got tickets and we went of course we were asleep before the car got out of the parking lot and when you woke up on Saturday morning he had already left for work. We usually did not get home til like 1 am or so.

Another one I have is him teaching me how to drive. I rarely drove with my mom it was always Dad and he would let you drive all the time. Also the Gold and Green Ball my senior year of high school I remember going to the Encino Bldg to learn the waltz with my Dad.

Like everyone in my family I remember him taking us to seminary every morning. We could only talk him out of going if it was raining but it had to be raining hard and that was not very often

He was the best Dad out there and I love him very much. I miss him.

These are just a few memories I have of my Dad. I cant post the picture from the Gold and Green Ball because I am Davis so when I get home on Tuesday I will post it. That picture is how I remember my Dad.

Well folks it is official the party is over. Charlie left this morning to go back home. As he was the last sibling to leave that means Mom's birthday is over.

We went to the temple last night he helped mom plant some flowers including the rose bush she go for her birthday.

We had a great visit with everyone and I so happy the party turned out well.

I went to the doctor on Tuesday and my ankle is 100% healed, but still swollen and I still have to walk with crutches even though I am using 1 now. I start physical therapy tomorrow and I have to go twice a week. I am walking on it now with the boot and without the boot. She (the lady at the therapist) said it would hurt. But it is really stiff but it has been 10 weeks since I have done anything too it.

So I will let you know how it all goes.

Went to the doctor today like I said. There is still a slight fracture showing so they took off the cast and I have an air boot. I have to wear it for 4 wks then go back and will probably start physical therapy. So here is a picture

I was able to get my handicap placad at Triple A. The DMV was just way to busy so we went to the local Triple A office and had to wait til 9 am when it opened but it was worth it. In 15 mins it was all done I have a temporary one til 2-1-10. So now I am driving to work. So I feel a little independent.

Only 3wks to go and I should have my cast off. When I went to the doctor last Tuesday he was pleased with how it was healing. So keep your fingers crossed. I least a walking cast would be great.

I went to the doctor yesterday and he is very pleased with the way my ankle is healing. He did not change my cast because he did not want to distrub my ankle. I go back in 4 weeks hopefully to get the cast OFF. I can drive now all I need is to get a handicap placard> He signed the form for me now i just have to go and get it. I will try the DMV first then if too busy i will got to Triple AAA but the DMV opens first. Will keep you informed

It has been 9 years since Daddy's death sometimes it just seems like yesterday that I was giving him a tie or aftershave or some such thing for Father's Day and he was always so happy to get a gift everything was just what he wanted. To me I had the best Dad in the whole world. As a child he would read to David and I out of the Disney story books we had just before bed he had the best reading out loud voice. He was always there to help with everything you asked him to do.

I'm pretty easy to find in this one! The dress was red with a white pleated skirt. This is 6th grade with Mrs. Watters.

We ran into Barbara's old friend Marguerite Hardin - and her 91 year old dad! Barbara and Marguerite have been friends since kindergarten.

Family mythology has it that Dad came home after my birth and said, "Well, what shall we name the new baby?" And Barbara, who thought Marguerite's older sister Donna Jean was the epitome of sophistication and glamor, said, "Donna Jean."

Dad had had a girl friend named Donna also - Mom said that Dad liked her more than she liked him! Imagine that!!

And so, that's how I came to be known in the Clayton annals as Donna Jean!

SURPISE SURPISE SURPISE A NEW BABY!!!!!!! Jennifer Anderson (Lyn's Daughter) called and told us some great news. She is expecting her 3rd child a boy May 12th. This is really a miracle because she was told she could not have any more so they all super exicted. And they believe in miracles. She is feeling great and the baby is doing really well and is healthly. Here is a picture of Jennifer and family with Mom. also Cristy Kevin's wife (lyn son) is also expecting in July so now we have 6 new babies this year.

Sorry for the extra picture of Grandpa Clayton and his brother Jack I scanned them together and cant figure out how to only put on one.

But on with my story. Last night we were watching tv and saw a commercial about how some guy proposed to his girlfriend. So I turned around and asked Mom how Dad asked her to marry him, she just laughed and said I would never believe it. So of course my interest was peaked (so was Mary's).

I dont know if you older kids have ever heard the story but I had not. My Dad asked my Mom to marry him when they were on a date at Forest Lawn in Glendale. They were looking at the statues there. I asked what kind of date was that (at least daddy thought of interesting dates) and did she say yes or would she answer later. She said yes right away. She thinks it was the spring (she did not remember when) and they were married that August. So even if it was a strange place in August of this year was their 68th wedding anv. So maybe getting proposed to at a cemetry is not a bad thing. Thought that was a funny family story and that I would share.

Happy Birthday Grandpa Clayton

Today is my Grandpa Clayton 118th birthday. I have very fond memories of my Grandpa from him and Grandma (his third wife) coming to our house to us going to their house. He loved big bowls of ice cream and he always always wore a hat. He had a cat named Inky. He was short and round a true Englishman. Considering he was born in Preston England and came to the US in 1895. So happy birthday Grandpa(Peter Affleck Clayton)!!! The picture is of Grandma in his mission in Holland the next picture is of him and my dad mom Agnes his first wife (early 30's?)

We had a b-q for Mom tonight with Mary, Bill, me and David. We were going to take her out but she said she was tired of going out to eat she wanted to eat at home. So Bill b-a the hamburgers and hot dogs and Mary made the spice cake and did all the fixing because i was at work. So this a happy b-day to Mom. Plus she had to take her driver license and eye test, she passed. She work hard all month studying for the test.

For her birthday and Mother's Day I gave Mom a pedicure. Come to find out she has never had one. She quite enjoyed it. She now enjoys wearing her sandals because her ugly toes do not show.

A funny thing happen on the way home from the Pantages last Saturday. I had gone with Mom and Mary to get Wicked tickets for when Leslie is here with Ellen. It was cheaper to go there and buy them the go off the internet. The internet wanted to charge $12.50 a ticket. That part went fine.

But on the drive home on the 101 we came across 3 motorcylce go pass us really fast one went ahead ( I think he had a camera on the back of his bike to take pictures of the other 2, well that is my thoughts) and the other 2 pop wheelies all the way down the freeway one stayed on his back wheel for quite awhile. The second rider didnt do so well he could not maintain on the back wheel. All the cars slowed way down no one wanted to be near when they slid or fell off the bikes. The did this all way to the 5 freeway.

I wish I had had my camera so Mary could take a picture. But alas it was home.

Well that was our adventure for Saturday.

They came to visit in September Labor Day weekend Randy ran a half marathon at Disneyland.

This is just to let everyone know that this weekend Patrick (Bobby' Son) was hurt in Iraq. He was shot in the calf in what they call a thru and thru. June who was here this weekend (pictures later) has talked to him and says he is fine. He will remain there to heal. Will give out infro has I get it.

Mom just called me and told me that Katie's (Bobby's daughter) gave birth to a baby boy today 8lbs 6 oz name of Jack. Mom and baby are both doing fine. More news when I get it.

Well I have finished the book. I started reading it at 10:30 am and finished about 8:45 pm. In between I cleaned it was funny Mom was working on her talk I would read a chapter then go clean then it got to be 2 then clean then 3 then clean. Got both bathroom cleaned and the front and dinning room.

I really liked the book. I will say no more because maybe someone has not started and or finished yet.

I do think next week I will start at the first one and read all the way thru to the last again.

Happy Father's Day

Today is Father's Day and for the seventh time I do not have a living father. But I know he is always there for me. I know that he loved me very much. The best memories I have of my Dad is going to Daddy Daughters dinner at the church and when he was very tired he would get dressed and go to every concert I was in. He also read David and I bedtime stories out of a Walt Disney story book. He had the best voice for reading stories.

Also Barbara posted a picture of Daddy at farm which I think was his very favorite summer of all time. According to Mom he was 17 yrs old had just graduated from high school and also lost his mom that winter. The families name was Hodson their daughter was on a mission in CA and she got her parents to take in my dad for the summer they lived in Roy UT. He had so much fun there I have heard stories my whole life about the summer he spent on a farm. Then I thought they were boring but now I wished I had written them down.

So all your fathers out there I hope you had a great day. But I of course had the Best DAD in the whole world and I do miss him everyday.

Mom and I just got back from the cemetery today is the 7th anniversary of Daddy's death. I cant believe it has been that long. We put flowers and it was quite peaceful and nice up there. Just wanted everyone to know that I was thinking about my Dad today. Here is a young picture of Daddy and one with Michael Sean Jared Paul and Scott this when I thought he looked the best!

Joan called Mom today to say Gary is doing great!!! He is nursing and doing all the things babies should be doing. He has not lost any weight and if all goes well he might come home on Monday. Well update when I get more news.

Tonight Adam was set apart as an Elder. He leaves in the morning for Utah. David and Diane are going with him they will meet Brenda in Provo on Wednesday. He reports to the MTC Wednesday morning at 11:30 am. The first picture is Adam and the Stake Pres Gordon Jex, the second one is Adam with David and Diane the last is Adam with 2 of his 3 grandma Mom and Diane mom's Freddie. We are all so proud. He is Grandma Clayton's 20th grandchild to go on a mission. She is so proud!!!!

Mom just called me at work to say Joan called her. The operation is over and the doctor says it was a success. Gary is doing fine. Will write more when I got more.

I just got an email from BriAnna and I thought I would share one of the pictures with you guys and what she said:

He was born May 3 at 12:58 am. He weighed 7 lbs 12 oz. He wasn't responding or turning pink, so they took him to the NICU to do some tests. We were told he had a heart disorder and needed surgery. The only surgeon who did this proceedure was in Charlottesville ant the UVA Medical Center and he was immediately Medvac'd there. He condition is called Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). He will have the surgery on Monday.

Joan called me today to say that Gary is not off the ventilatior. Operation is on for Monday still unless it fixes itself. When I hear more I will let you know.

Joan called last night to tell us that BriAnna had the baby she had a baby boy Gary Scott. Dont know the weight yet. Gary had to be sent to NICU because he had water in his lungs. Joan said that his valves were crossed and that they need to do an operation on Monday to fix it. Today they opened on of his valves they are hoping that the other opens by it self so they do not have to have the operation. Both Joan and Fred and BriAnna parents are on the way to help them out. So keep Gary in your prayers. I will let you know when I hear more.

More Vacation

Well here I am on my fourth day of the cruise. So let me tell you what I have been doing for the last couple of days. Yesterday we were in Hatii and went to a private Island that Royal Caribbean owns. We went on a power boat tour of the island that was fun then spent the rest of the day at the beach. I am a little red, well maybe a lot red but I did put on sunscreen. Then last night we saw a group called Mosiac they were okay.

Today we are in Jamicia Ochas Rois. We went and swam with a dolphin named Sky she was great. They let us pet her and feed her and she danced with us. She gave a kiss (they took a picture). Then we went to Dunn Falls they were quite nice but I did not make it up to the top I tired but it was too slippery. Tonight we see an ice show and we are going to a game show.

So will write more after Mexico.

Vacation

Hi from the Voyager of the Sea. Yes I am on my cruise using the computer the service here is slow but we are in the middle of the ocean. Tomorrow is whole day at sea. Then on Monday we go to Hatti then Tuesday to Jamicia, then Grand Cyman then Mexico. We are looking forward to all of our fun. I have gone with my friend Linda. It is now 10:10 pm they are using eastern time. and we have just come from a show that was really quite good. They sang danced juggled and comedy.

Well have a happy Easter! Will write more later. Havent figured out how to download pictures yet but when I do I will put some up.
